JEEP FILES: JANUARY

This month's Jeep Files takes us to The Pony Express Trail just outside of Faust, Utah. As you can tell by the sign, this is a remote section of our state. I have been out here several times staying a couple days at a time so I feel I know the area fairly well. NOTE: see the white piece of paper on the sign post. I zoomed in on it so you can see what it said but some of the writing is to small. The West Valley Police are looking for info on Josh Powell. The sign wants anyone that can verify he was out here to call them. They seem to not believe his story. It took me and the boys an hour to get to this sign from home and another 1/2 hour or so to get to his supposed camp area. West valley is another 45 minutes on top of that! If he left at 12:30 am he would not have reached his campsite until at least 3:00 am. He had a 4 year old and a 2 year old out in REMOTE desert country in record cold weather?? If Susan is out there I can't image that she is farther that 100 yards off the road somewhere. The area is too dark and too remote to chance getting stuck somewhere. He was in a mini van by the way. We encountered quite a few people out there, I can only guess they want to be a part of helping in any way possible. I think we will make the trip again in spring and spend more time out there with extra gas and food. May God grant her and her family peace. Josh Powell may escape the long arm of the law but he can't escape the hand of God!
